Jobs and News News Swale Mayor Karen Watson Visits The Willows! Our Supported Employment programme’s relationship with The Willows goes a long way back. Over the years, we’ve worked in partnership with this fantastic day centre to provide valuable learning experiences for students with a passion for caring roles. We were therefore very proud and excited to learn that The Willows had been awarded first prize at Sittingbourne Carnival recently. To congratulate the team at The Willows, Swale Mayor, Karen Watson visited the centre, where Manager Jeanette and the rest of the team had decorated. Some of the bemix team were lucky enough to receive an invite from The Willows, so we could meet Mayor Karen and tell her about our Supported Employment programmes. Supported Employment Area Manager, Rosie Langton, explains: “When Jeannette asked if I could attend the open afternoon at the Willows, I happily agreed. I saw it as an opportunity to highlight the fantastic work she does, not just with our young people who complete a placement with The Willows, but the amount of hard work and commitment Jeanette and her team puts into the Willows. Jeanette is a great role model for our young people, displaying a huge amount of passion and pride in her work. A fantastic example of the difference you can make when involved in a career that you care so much about” During the event, Jeanette and Mayor Karen spoke about the vital service The Willows provides, with Mayor Karen emphasising her long-term support for the day centre: “I believe it’s important that people know what’s happening here. People need this service, and I see it as part of my role to help promote what we have in Swale. Even after my term as Mayor ends, I want to continue supporting you and the work you do here.” At bemix, we echo Mayor Karen’s sentiments and are looking forward to offering more placements for students on our Supported Employment programmes, so that they can continue to develop and share their empathetic and diligent qualities through essential work in caring environments such as The Willows.
