Jobs and News News Co-op's Newest Employee: Nicole's Journey to Paid Employment We're delighted to share the fantastic journey of Nicole, who has recently secured paid employment at her Co-op placement, following her time with bemix’s Supported Employment programme. Nicole began her work placement at the Co-op in July, and within just three months, she had made such a positive impact that the team offered her paid employment as a sales assistant. Throughout her placement, Nicole gained confidence and developed new skills, including learning where the stock goes, improving her communication with customers, and becoming more proactive in identifying tasks to tackle. She even overcame her fear of using the headset, showing just how much she's grown during her time at the Co-op. Nicole’s manager recognised her potential and was excited to offer her a paid role. Paul is committed to continuing to support Nicole, helping her build even more skills and confidence, including opportunities to train in other areas, like organising home deliveries. “I have managed to meet new people, and I’m also looking forward to my first pay this month to be able to buy Christmas presents for my family and friends.” - Nicole Nicole’s journey is a wonderful example of how Supported Employment helps young people build the confidence and skills they need to thrive in the workplace. Organisations like the Co-op play a key role in recognising the potential in everyone and offering opportunities for growth. By valuing and supporting individuals, they help make a difference in people’s lives and contribute to creating more inclusive workplaces. Congratulations to Nicole for all she has achieved – this is just the beginning of a bright future! To learn more about our programmes, click here.
